Why buy this South Korea 2018 ZI:SIN Canis Silver Medal

This Silver 2018 South Korean Canis Medal is the second release of the ZI:SIN Collection. It is a great option for collectors looking for a new, multi-year option that is different from the types of themes often released by the better known mints. Each of the 33,000 medals was struck from .999 fine silver by Korea Minting, Security Printing and ID Card Operating Corporation (KOMSCO). This piece will arrive in GEM Brilliant Uncirculated condition.

Powerful Canis Design

The obverse features a Do ggae bi. The creature from Eastern mythology is referred to as a ghost, a monster or a god and is traditionally hung on both ends of roof tiles to ward off evil spirits. Several inscriptions on this face provide important details about the medal, such as its weight and purity. Perhaps the most significant is its face value, "1 CLAY," which originated with the mint's Chiwoo Cheonwang series.

The reverse features Canis, a loyal guide of mythology. He wears a helmet that looks like a dog head and bears his unique weapon into battle. The creature is known for leading God's troops into battle against the forces of evil. "ZI:SIN" and "CANIS," the names of the series and coin, respectively, are inscribed in the lower left.
