Why buy this 2018-S American Proof Silver Eagle?
This Proof Silver Eagle offers fans of the world's favorite bullion coin the opportunity to appreciate its designs in a unique way. Like its bullion counterpart, it was struck from one ounce of .999 fine silver. Unlike the bullion coin, it has a stunning proof finish and bears the "S" mint mark of the San Francisco Mint, a feature that most collectors of American coins find extremely attractive.
Traditional Walking Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman
The obverse for the Silver Eagle series was taken from the Walking Liberty half dollar, which was designed by Adolph Weinman. Liberty wears a Phrygian cap, a traditional symbol of freedom, and is draped in the American flag as she strides confidently toward the left side of the coin. In her left hand, she carries laurel and oak branches, which symbolize civilian and military honors, respectively. She extends her right hand in front of her, as though greeting the morning sun.
John Mercanti designed the reverse specifically for the Silver Eagle. It features a union shield, which is guarded by an eagle. The eagle holds a ribbon with the words "E PLURIBUS UNUM" (From many, one) in its beak and arrows, symbols of military readiness, and an olive branch, a symbol of peace, in its talons. Above its head are thirteen stars, which represent the original thirteen states.

This information is provided on a label that features one of San Francisco's famous trolleys.
