Why purchase this 2018 American Silver Eagle Proof coin struck at the San Francisco Mint?
The U.S. Mint has expanded the production of its 2018 American Silver Eagle series to include a proof minted at its San Francisco facility featuring the "S" Mint mark. Struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver, the coin measures 40.6 mm in diameter.
Adolph A. Weinman's Timeless Walking Liberty Design
The obverse depicts Lady Liberty striding toward the rising sun enveloped in the American flag, cradling long branches of oak and laurel. "LIBERTY" curves overhead with "2018" beneath her feet, "IN GOD WE TRUST" behind her.
The reverse, by sculptor John Mercanti, portrays a heraldic eagle beneath thirteen stars, with a cluster of arrows and an olive branch in its grip. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR," "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and the "S" Mint mark.
