Why purchase this perfectly graded 2018-S release of the Proof American Silver Eagle?
Design of the U.S. Mint's American Silver Eagle series has remained virtually unchanged for more than three decades, its obverse featuring a rebirth of Adolph A. Weinman's 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar design. This 2018 proof release was struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver at the San Francisco Mint.
Breathtaking Walking Liberty Design
Weinman's elegant vision of Lady Liberty is recreated on the obverse, depicting the beautiful lady walking toward the rising sun enveloped in the flag of the United States, while carrying a magnificent bouquet of oak and laurel. Inscriptions include "LIBERTY," "2018" and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
The reverse features a design inspired by the Great Seal of the United States created by John Mercanti, illustrating an eagle behind a striped shield holding an olive branch and arrows, beneath a triangular pattern of thirteen stars. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR," "S" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
