Why purchase this 2018-S American Silver Eagle Proof coin?
The United States Mint has been producing the American Silver Eagle series since 1986, its obverse design celebrating Lady Liberty as envisioned by sculptor Adolph A. Weinman for the U.S. half dollar denomination coin introduced in 1916. This 2018 Silver Eagle, struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver at the San Francisco Mint, was originally issued as part of the eight-coin Limited Edition Silver Proof Set. Mintage of the sets is limited to 50,000.
Magnificent Lady Liberty Imagery
Dramatically enfolded in the American flag, Lady Liberty appears on the obverse, walking towards the sunrise cradling a bouquet of oak and laurel branches. Inscribed "LIBERTY," "2018" and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
The reverse depicts a heraldic eagle grasping an olive branch and arrows, with thirteen stars above. Created by John Mercanti, the design includes the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR," "S" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
