Why order this Specimen 2018 5 oz. Silver America the Beautiful Pictured Rocks?
This 5 oz. Silver Specimen 2018 Pictured Rocks is the forty-first issue in the extremely popular America the Beautiful series, which began in 2010. This is the first issue of 2018 and is perfect not only for Michiganders but also for collectors who like coins that offer unique scenery from nature. The coin was struck from .999 fine silver at the Philadelphia Mint, which is referenced by a "P" Mint mark on the obverse. That Mint mark and the coin's matte finish distinguish this coin from its bullion counterpart.
Stunning Pictured Rocks Design by Paul C. Balan
Paul C. Balan designed and Michael Gaudioso sculpted the reverse design, which features Chapel Rock. Standing on the rock is a single white pine tree, which makes for an even more unusual sight. Rim inscriptions include "PICTURED ROCKS" and "MICHIGAN." Like other coins in the America the Beautiful series, this one has John Flanagan's portrait of George Washington on the obverse.
Flawless SP70 ER
This coin received Numismatic Guaranty Corporation's (NGC's) highest grade, Specimen 70. A specimen coin is a hybrid between a business strike and a proof, while 70 means that a coin is perfect as seen under 5x magnification. NGC also certified that the coin is an Early Releases, which means that it was received for grading within thirty days of its initial release from the Mint.
