Why add this 2018 Great Britain 50p Paddington Bear at Paddington Station colorized silver coin in GEM Proof condition to your collection?
This incredibly detailed coin is the first release of two coin series produced by The Royal Mint of Great Britain to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the book "A Bear Called Paddington" by acclaimed children's author Michael Bond. The seven-sided proof is selectively colorized, struck from 8 grams of .925 fine silver with a diameter measurement of 27.3 mm. Mintage of the commemorative proof is limited to 75,000 coins.
Charming Paddington Station Design
The Royal Mint artist David Knapton designed the reverse, which depicts the scene where Paddington's story begins. The bear is colorized, wearing a blue jacket and red hat, seated upon a suitcase on a platform in Paddington Station with a train arriving in the background.
The obverse features the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II as designed by Jody Clark. The inscriptions "ELIZABETH II, D.G. REG. F.D., 50 PENCE, 2018" encircle the image.
