Description
Why purchase the 2018 Breast Cancer Awareness commemorative coin and stamp set?
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, the U.S. Mint has released a specially packaged version of its 2018 Breast Cancer Awareness Commemorative Clad Half Dollar Coin, paired with a non-denominational first-class stamp issued by the U.S. Postal Service with the same theme. Surcharges collected from the sale of each of the 25,000 sets produced will directly benefit continuing research programs for treatment, prevention and cure of the disease.
Exceptional Symbolic Designs
The 2018 dated half dollar coin features imagery designed by Emily Damstra. The obverse portrays two women in varied stages of their fight against the disease, while the reverse illustrates a Tiger Swallowtail butterfly in flight, a symbol of hope and renewal.
The stamp features a design first issued in 1998, created by breast cancer survivor Ethel Kessler which depicts artist Whitney Sherman’s vibrant, watercolor interpretation of Artemis, a mythical “goddess of the hunt.”
Gorgeous Brilliant Uncirculated Coin in Original Mint Package
This 2018 Breast Cancer Awareness commemorative coin and stamp set is presented as originally packaged by the U.S. Mint. The Brilliant Uncirculated (GEM BU) clad half dollar coin and stamp are sealed in a beautifully illustrated and cleverly designed folding display, which features facts about breast cancer in the United States, information about the commemorative designs and a Certificate of Authenticity.
