The experts at Paper Money Guaranty (PMG) graded this 2018 Cook Islands Historical Maps - Universalis Cosmographia Note 30g Silver Prooflike $5 Foil in at the top possible grade of Gem Uncirculated 70. It was struck for the Cook Islands by the artisans at Germany's famed Mayer Mint using their innovative Smartminting technology. This was struck on a .999 pure silver foil weighing 30g actual silver weight. Only 1500 units have been struck to satisfy global collector demand.
Remarkable Historic Design
The reverse of this foil note features the Universalis Cosmographia which is the first map featuring the name "America" for the New World. Martin Waldseemuller, the renowned German cartographer was the designer of the map. The original map was published in April 1507 and was over eight feet wide and was split into twelve individual sections. The obverse image used on this foil features the classic portrait of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II designed by famed British artist Ian Rank-Broadley.
