Why does this 2018 Canada Norse Figureheads - Dragon's Sail 1 oz. Silver Coin belong in your collection?
Struck in 2018 at the Royal Canadian Mint this coin celebrates the rich history of Icelandic folk stories retelling the Viking expeditions to a coast strikingly akin to the North Atlantic. For years these stories were thought to be only myth, but in the 1960s an 11th-century Norse settlement was found on the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland, leading the Royal Canadian Mint to release a 3-part series celebrating these Nordic settlements and its people. The coin is struck from 1 Troy oz. of .9999 pure silver and features a Dragon's Sail ship.
inspired by the heroic tales of Leif Eriksson!
Depicted on the obverse is Susanna Blunt's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
A Dragon's Sail ship is depicted on the reverse, encircled by a colorized Norse-inspired pattern of interlaced serpents.
Designated GEM Proof and in original government packaging!
This silver coin is ungraded and is in original Mint condition, packaged in a Mint-branded Maroon clamshell with a black beauty box provided by the Royal Canadian Mint.
