This 45th release of the series commemorating Rhode Island's Block Island National Wildlife Refuge is struck from 5 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
Breathtaking Wildlife Themed Design
A black-crowned night-heron dominates the reverse image, portrayed in magnificent flight above the waves at Block Island's Cow Cove. The stunning design by Chris Costello and Phebe Hemphill is framed with a border containing the inscriptions "RHODE ISLAND," "BLOCK ISLAND," "2018" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
The obverse features George Washington's image as designed by John Flanagan in 1932, which was inspired by a bust of the Founding Father created by French sculptor Jean-Antoine Houdon in 1786. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "QUARTER DOLLAR."
