The reverse illustrates an eagle with a shield grasping an olive branch and arrows, with thirteen stars to represent the original Colonies positioned above. The patriotic design by John Mercanti includes the inscriptions "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
