Why purchase this $25 American 2018 1/2 oz. Gold Eagle?

This 2018 $25 American 1/2 oz. Gold Eagle gives you the chance to own what will likely be the lowest mintage bullion Gold Eagle this year. The coin comes from the latest issue of a series that began in 1986. Like its counterparts, one of which is larger and two of which are smaller, it was struck from .9167 fine gold at the West Point Mint.

Classic Saint-Gaudens Design

Augustus Saint-Gaudens originally designed the image that is on the obverse for the double eagle. Getting its name from him, it features Liberty standing at the center with one foot set upon a rock. She strikes a confident pose as her hair blows in the wind. Facing the holder, she holds her torch of freedom in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. To the side is a miniature rendering of the Capitol Dome. Fifty stars encircle the image, which is set against a backdrop of the rising sun.

Miley Busiek's reverse design honors the bird that gives the coin its name. A male eagle is depicted returning to its nest, where his family awaits. He carries an olive branch in his talons.

Perfect MS70

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation's (NGC) experts determined that this coin is flawless as seen under 5x magnification. Accordingly, they awarded it their highest grade, Mint State 70 (MS70).
