Why get this 2018 1/10 oz. Gold $5 American Eagle?

This 1/10 oz. Gold 2018 $5 American Eagle is the smallest of four coins in the latest issue of the world's most popular gold bullion series, which makes it perfect for collectors on budgets. The coin was struck at the West Point Mint from .9167 fine silver.

Powerful Saint-Gaudesns Design

After first appearing on the double eagle in 1907, the highly acclaimed Saint-Gaudens image, which gets its name from its designer, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, was brought back for the Gold Eagle. The image features Liberty holding her torch and an olive branch as she faces the holder. She appears a larger than life figure thanks in part to the Capitol Dome beside her and the rays of the morning sun behind her. Along the rim are fifty stars, four more than were included on the original Saint-Gaudens double eagle design.

A family of bald eagles, from which the coin gets its name, is on the reverse. Designed by Miley Busiek, the image shows a male eagle returning to its nest, where his mate watches his return as she tends to their young.

Perfect MS70 ER with Black Core Holder

The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) set this coin in a black core holder, which many collectors prefer to the more traditional white. NGC also certified that the coin is in perfect condition by grading it Mint State 70 (MS70).
