Why does this flawless 2017-W Burnished American Silver Eagle coin with a designer signed label belong in your collection?

The U.S. Mint expanded its American Silver Eagle series to include a burnished (uncirculated) variety in 2006. With the exception of 2009 and 2010, the satiny burnished finish coin has been issued each year since its introduction, in typically lower mintages than the proof version.

  • This 2017-W American Silver Eagle coin is a product of the West Point Mint.
  • The coin is struck from 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver with a stunning burnished finish.
  • The one dollar denomination coin features a 40.60 mm diameter.
  • The impeccably graded coin includes a patriotic designer signed label.
  • The coin is part of a final reported mintage of just 176,739 pieces.

Exquisite Designs Honoring Liberty and Freedom

Obverse: Lady Liberty is portrayed as a young woman on the obverse with an American flag fashionably draped around her walking form. Inscriptions include "LIBERTY," "2017" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." This image, which is an example of the artistry of early 20th century sculptor Adolph A. Weinman, was originally designed for the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar.

Reverse: The reverse features an eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch, with thirteen stars above. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR," "W" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM." This heraldic design is the Type-1 reverse which appeared on all Silver Eagles from the series' 1986 inception until mid-2021. The image is the work of John Mercanti, the U.S. Mint's currently retired 12th Chief Engraver.

Mint State 70 Excellence

This Burnished 2017-W American Silver Eagle coin was submitted to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) for review and deemed to be in Mint State 70 condition for its flawless strike, pristine surfaces and exceptional eye appeal. The 1 oz. silver dollar is encapsulated in a sonically sealed NGC protective holder accompanied by a specially designed American flag style certification label which was hand-signed by Silver Eagle Type-1 reverse designer John Mercanti.
