Why Order This MS70 First Day of Issue 2017-W Burnished Silver Eagle 2 Piece Set with Jones and Mercanti Signature Labels?
While the Silver Eagle series began in 1986, it wasn't until 2006 that the burnished finish was available as an option. Since then it has become a favorite of many collectors. Both coins in this set are 2017-W burnished Silver Eagles. Each one has a "W" mintmark on the reverse.
Stunning Artwork by Weinman and Mercanti
A classic design created by Adolph A. Weinman is displayed on the obverse. This design is known as Walking Liberty. It was used for the first time in 1916 on the half dollar.
The reverse is where the silver weight and face value can be found. The design on this side is the work of John Mercanti. It shows 13 stars as well as a bald eagle.
MS70 First Day of Issue with Mercanti and Jones Signature Labels
Both of these coins received perfect Mint State 70 grades and First Day of Issue designations from the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation. They are completely free of flaws and were submitted on their official release day. One has a label that was signed by Elizabeth Jones, the other has a label that was signed by John Mercanti. Both served as Chief Engraver of the US Mint.
