Add the design from a coin only struck as a pattern to your collection!

In the late nineteenth Century, decades after the California Gold Rush, the banks of California faced and odd monetary problem. While gold was available in abundance, paper money was downright scarce! They asked the government to strike $100 “Union” and $50 “Half-Union” gold coins to help solve the issue, but the bill died in the House of Representatives. Despite this unfortunate end, U.S. Mint Director Henry Linderman proceeded to have the two massive designs created anyways. While the larger “Union” design was never actually minted, two examples of the Half-Union coins were struck, and have survived until today!

Now, you can own these stunning designs in your collection! Struck from one affordable, avoirdupois (AVDP) oz. of copper, this design gleams with a collector’s proof finish. Based directly off of the existing pattern “Half-Unions,” this commemorative is officially licensed by the organization that now protects the original two patterns – the Smithsonian.

Now legendary Half-Union design!

The designs of the $50 “Half-Union” coin were created by William Barber, fifth Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint. The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Liberty, wearing a coronet on her head, and surrounded by 13 stars.

The reverse, also designed by Barber, shows an image of a heraldic eagle, with the inscriptions “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “HALF UNION.” Also, in celebration of the event it was released at, it carries the inscription “2017 DENVER ANA WFM.”

Graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC)

This fine example of a late 19th century pattern was graded by numismatic experts at the ANA Show. NGC found this example to be in excellent condition, and so they certified it as GEM Proof. Because they graded it at the 2017 Denver ANA, it received the very hard to get designation, ANA Show Releases. Finally, as a finishing touch, it was given a special Smithsonian label, officially licensed by the organization itself.

Don’t miss this opportunity to secure one of the only 2,500 examples struck!

Liberty pattern half union desugn
It's a pretty neat feeling to view a three demensional replica of " the coin that nevery was " .the strike is very clean. And you feel the artistry of the coin just because the strike is so deeply cut and , I say again, cleanly done. The copper representation is the cleanest. The silver one has some imprinted horizontal lines across some of the lettering, which might give it the appearance looking smudged but otherwise both coin look great. And needless to say, the subject matter and design is a very rare view indeed.
