Why order this Specimen 2017-P 5 oz. Silver America the Beautiful Ozark Riverways Coin?
The extremely popular America the Beautiful Series continues with this 5 oz. Silver 2017-P Specimen Ozark Riverways, its thirty-eighth issue overall. This coin is considered the collectible version. Unlike the bullion coin, this piece has a matte finish and a "P" Mint mark, which indicates that it was struck in Philadelphia. Like other coins in the series, this piece was struck from .999 fine silver. It would make a great standalone piece for anyone who is connected with the state of Missouri, and it would also make for a great start or continuation of an America the Beautiful collection.
Stunning Alley Mill design by Ron Sanders
This piece shares a common obverse design with all of the other coins in the series. That design features John Flanagan's portrait of President George Washington, which has been a fixture on the quarter since 1932.
Ron Sanders designed and Renata Gordon sculpted the reverse design, which features Alley Mill, a late 19th-century steel roller mill. Visitors to the park today can tour the mill, which stands on the shores of a waterway that is a part of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. Four inscriptions are included in the rim frame: "OZARK RIVERWAYS," "MISSOURI," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," and the date, "2017."
