The reverse image on this fourth release of the series was designed by American sculptor John Mercanti. A magnificent Wedge-Tailed Eagle, its feathers rendered with exceptional detail, is depicted perched on a tree branch, surrounded by inscriptions "AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE," "2017 1 OZ .999 SILVER," and the Mint mark "P."
The artistry of sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley, the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse, bordered by "ELIZABETH II," "AUSTRALIA," and "1 DOLLAR."
Mint State 69 with designer signed First Day of Issue label
This 2017-P Australia Wedge-Tailed Eagle 1 oz. Silver Dollar is graded a near perfect Mint State 69 by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), and includes a certification label signed by John Mercanti, the coin's reverse designer. The stunning coin was received for grading within the first twenty-four hours of its release. It has earned the additional certification of First Day of Issue.
