Why choose this Mint State 69 First Day of Issue 2017-(P) Silver Eagle with a Mercanti Signature label?
Multiple production records for the bullion American Silver Eagle have been set in recent years. It was recently revealed that the U.S. Mint was striking them at multiple branches instead of solely at the West Point Mint. This 2017 Silver Eagle was minted in Philadelphia. Since it does not have a Mint mark, its Mint of origin was determined by the original Monster Box it was taken from.
Stunning designs by Weinman and Mercanti
The obverse features the work of Adolph A. Weinman. Liberty can be seen with one arm extended while she carries a bundle of branches with the other.
Retired Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint John Mercanti designed the reverse. There are 13 stars at the top symbolizing our nation's origin and a bald eagle below them.
