Classic design from the renaissance of American coinage
The obverse image is that of Lady Liberty draped in the American Flag. She carries with her branches of Laurel and Oak which symbolize prosperity and strength respectively. She is shown with her right arm outstretched, as if she is sharing these American ideals. The designer was Adolph Weinman. The reverse of the issue was designed by Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint, John Mercanti and features a patriotic Eagle.
