Why order this Mint State 69 Early Releases 2017-(P) Silver Eagle?
It recently came to light that bullion Silver Eagles were being struck at multiple branches of the U.S. Mint. Since these coins do not have Mint marks, their original Monster Boxes are used to determine which Mint they came from. The 2017 Silver Eagle shown here was struck at the Philadelphia Mint.
Impressive patriotic artwork by Weinman and Mercanti
The Walking Liberty design is on the obverse. This classic design by Adolph A. Weinman has been a favorite among collectors and the general public since its first appearance in 1916.
The reverse features a modern design by John Mercanti. A bald eagle is pictured with a banner and a shield at the center of the design and there are 13 stars above it.
