The designs on both faces of this coin are based on the original issue in 1617. On the obverse is a knight standing behind a shield. The shield, which stands in front of his legs, bears a rampant lion, which appears on the coat of arms of the Netherlands. Inscribed abbreviations along the rim translate to "Silver money of the Province of the Netherlands."

On the reverse is the rampant lion from the shield on the obverse. The imposing figure swings its tail high and waves its front paws menacingly. "CONFIDENS. DNO. NON. MOVETVR" is inscribed along the rim. That means, "Who trusts in the Lord is not moved."
