Why order this Antiqued 2017 Ivory Coast High Relief 5 oz Silver Elephant?
This High Relief 2017 Ivory Coast Antiqued 5 oz Silver Elephant would make a beautiful addition to any animal-themed coin collection. With a mintage of just 999 pieces, it also presents a great choice for collectors who like having coins with relatively low mintage. Each coin is individually numbered to highlight this low mintage, and show you exactly how early in the mintage each coin was struck. Last year, these coins sold out very quickly from the Mint, so your chance to get one will not last. This coin was struck from .999 fine silver at the Mauquoy Mint in Belgium. It is part of the second issue in the Big Five Series of the Ivory Coast.
Stunning Elephant design
The coat of arms of the Ivory Coast is at the center of the obverse. A demi-sun emerges from the top of a shield, on which is the left-side profile of an elephant's head. Trees support the shield on either side, and a ribbon at the bottom of the design reads, "REPUBLIQUE DE COTE D'IVOIRE." That same inscription arches along the rim at the top, while the date is between the inscription and the design. "5000 FRANCS CFA," the face value, is inscribed at the bottom.
On the reverse is an elephant's head, which appears to emerge from the coin thanks to the high relief execution. Inscriptions read, "MAUQUOY HAUT-RELIEF - ELEPHANT 5 OZ .999 AG."
