Why order this British 2017 1 oz. Silver £5 Proof A Century of Royal Service - the Centenary of the House of Windsor commemorative?

Share in the celebration of a major event in British history with this Silver 2017 5p British Proof A Century of Royal Service - the Centenary of the House of Windsor. The coin marks a hundred years since George V made a proclamation that the royal family was giving up the name of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. This name had come to the family with the marriage of Queen Victoria to Prince Albert in 1840. Historians believe that he made the decision because he deemed it inappropriate for the family to have a German name while Germany was at war with Britain. The coin was struck from .925 sterling silver at the Royal Mint and is part of a limited mintage of 13,000 pieces.

Distinctly British badge of the House of Windsor design by George VI

Queen Elizabeth II wears the Royal Diamond Diadem that she wore at her coronation on Jody Clark's obverse design. Her name and abbreviated title, "ELIZABETH II D.G. REG. FID. DEF," combine with "5 POUNDS" along the rim to encircle the image.

Timothy Noad modeled his reverse design based on the Badge of the House of Windsor, which George VI approved. Two branches flank a tower from Windsor Castle, while a crown is included at the top.
