Obverse: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is depicted on the obverse, encircled by the inscription "ELIZABETH II," "D.G. REG. F.D." and "5 POUNDS."

Reverse: The reverse features a winged Red Dragon grasping a shield ornamented with four leopards, a heraldic image representing the arms of 13th century Welsh prince Llewelyn ap Griffith, the last native prince of Wales. Inscribed "RED DRAGON OF WALES," "2 OZ FINE SILVER," "999.9" and "2017." Obverse and reverse designs were crafted by Jody Clark, the youngest artist to create a definitive coinage portrait of the Queen. Mr. Clark has been a Royal Mint sculptor since 2012.
