This piece of coinage was struck by the Royal British Mint in 2017 and is the first of ten Proof coins to be released from the Queen's Beasts collection. The collection depicts Queen Elizabeth's beasts which were present at her Majesty's coronation day in 1953. They are meant to represent the Queen's heraldry with symbolic emblems. This first release features the Lion of England, with is a representation of the families' nobility, strength, and bravery.

Featuring the heraldry of Queen Elizabeth II

The obverse features the newest portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fifth effigy of her Majesty to appear on British coinage and was created by artist, Jody Clark.

Depicted on the reverse is the Lion of England behind a coat of arms. This image was created to represent Queen Elizabeth's blood line and ancestry. "LION OF ENGLAND," "2017," are inscribed around the image while to the left of the shield the initials of the artists, Jody Clark are visible.
