The fifteenth release of the Austrian Mint's exceptional Silver Niobium series features the Microcosm, an exploration of a butterfly and bee's cellular components. The coin is bi-metallic, featuring a colorized Niobium center surrounded by ring struck from .2604 Troy oz. of .900 fine silver. Complex Multi Colored Design by Mag. Helmut Andexlinger and Herbert Wähner
A butterfly is featured in the central niobium core of the obverse design, depicted in a raspberry pink against a bright-green scale textured background, with "2017" below. The silver outer ring is inscribed "REPUBLIK OSTERREICH" and "25 EURO," along with progressive close-up views of the butterfly wing's cellular structure.
The reverse design explores a bee on the same colorized niobium, depicting tissue cells, honeycomb, eggs and larvae on an increasingly microscopic level. Inscribed "MIKROKOSMOS" on the silver border.
