Why buy this American 2017 Silver Eagle!
This Silver 2017 American Eagle is a great choice for collectors who are interested in the history of the U.S. Mint. It is the latest issue in the world's most popular silver bullion series, which was first issued in 1986. The coin was struck from .999 fine silver.
Iconic Walking Liberty design
Adolph Weinman created the obverse design, which was first used as the obverse of the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. The image features Liberty draped in an American flag and wearing a Phrygian cap as she carries laurel and oak branches. Her right hand extends in front of her, as though presenting the holder with the morning sun, which rises below.
The reverse image was created by John Mercanti in advance of the initial release of the series. Modeled after the Great Seal of the U.S., it consists of an eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch as it guard a union shield under thirteen stars.
