Why purchase this Mint State 70 American 2017 Silver Eagle with a Mercanti Signed label?

Those who have a respect for American numismatics are sure to love this 2017 Silver American Eagle, as well as its label, which was signed by former U.S. Mint Chief Engraver, John Mercanti. The coin was struck from .999 fine silver and is one of the first coins in this latest release of the popular bullion series. It was struck either at the West Point Mint or the San Francisco Mint.

Traditional Walking Liberty design by Adolph Weinman

The design on the obverse of this Silver Eagle was taken from Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty half dollar. It shows the iconic symbol of America draped in the American flag and wearing a Phrygian cap, a symbol of her freedom. The sun rises in the background under her outstretched right hand.

The reverse design, which is the work of Mercanti, consists of two parts. At the top, thirteen stars are included to symbolize the nation's original states. Below, an eagle, the national bird, grasps arrows and an olive branch while protecting a union shield.

Perfect Mint State 70 Early Releases with Mercanti signed label

Mercanti signed the label that the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) provided for this coin. On that label, they printed their highest grade, Mint State 70, which means that the coin lacks any flaws. They also indicated that they received the coin no more than thirty days after its initial issue by giving it certification as an Early Releases.
