Why should you purchase this NGC Proof 69 Ultra Cameo 2016-W Proof American Silver Eagle?
The American Silver Eagle (ASE) is one of, if not the, most popular silver bullion coins in the world. Starting back in 1986, 2016 marks the 30th anniversary of this stunning coin. In honor of this achievement, the U.S. Mint has decided to have all Proof and Burnished American Silver eagles of 2016 to have smooth edges, struck with incuse lettering reading "30th ANNIVERSARY."
What designs are present on the 2016 ASE issue?
The obverse of the American Silver Eagle was designed by Adolph A. Weinman over a century ago for a silver half dollar. It shows the American embodiment of liberty, a lady, striding forward with the sun on the horizon. This classic U.S. coin design made a reappearance in 1986 on the U.S.'s new silver bullion coin. 2016 marks the centennial of this beautiful, purely American design.
While the Walking Liberty design was already an American classic, the reverse design created by John Mercanti became one over the course of the American Eagle Series. It was created by Mercanti just for the American Silver Eagle, and it depicts a heraldic eagle design. This design was based off the the official U.S. Seal, and is known immediately by collectors all over the U.S.

This is the second highest grade it could have received from the NGC. Proof 69 means that the coin is nearly perfect, with only a few very small blemishes that can only be seen under magnification. Ultra Cameo means the finish is exceptional, and that their is very high contrast between the frosted and mirrored areas.
