2016-W Mercury dime gold centennial coin graded by PCGS
The centennial of one of the biggest movements in United States coinage is upon us, and the Mint is bringing the the centennial celebration with a bang! They are creating solid gold centennial coins for the three different series of American coins first released in 1916 as parts of the renaissance of American coinage - the Mercury dime, the Standing Liberty quarter, and the Walking Liberty half dollar.
President Roosevelt sought the assistance of one of the greatest sculptors in American history - Augustus Saint-Gaudens - to redesign all of the nation's coinage, but he fell ill before he could finish the job. Students and co-workers stepped in to finish the job, and young Adolph A. Weinman, a German born artist, helped by creating new designs for the dime and the half dollar.
