Stunning Design by Natasha Muhl
On the obverse is the Australian head of state, Queen Elizabeth II, as rendered by Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998. She wears a tiara , which holds down her curly hair. Her name, "ELIZABETH II," the country that issued this coin, "AUSTRALIA," and the piece's face value, "8 DOLLAR," are inscribed along the rim.
In the foreground of Natasha Muhl's reverse design is a kookaburra. Sitting atop a fence post that is wrapped in barbed wire, it sings one of its beautiful songs. Two trees rise in the distance. Rim inscriptions include the name of the coin, "AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA," and "2016 1 OZ 999 SILVER."
Nearly Perfect Proof 69 Ultra Cameo Early Releases
The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation's (NGC) graders did not find any errors on this coin when examining it with the naked eye, but did find one or two when viewing it under magnification. As such, they awarded it their second highest grade, Proof 69. They also certified it as an Ultra Cameo due to the strong contrasts on both faces between frosted and mirrored sections.
