Incredible 2016 Wedge Tailed Eagle Design by John Mercanti
The reverse of this Wedge-Tailed eagle was crafted by the famous coin designer, John Mercanti. This man was made famous by his reverse design for the popular U.S. Silver bullion coin, the American Silver Eagle. Unlike his 2014 and 2015 designs for the Perth Mint's Wedge-Tailed Eagle, which showed an eagle in flight, this 2016 design shows the majestic creature perched on a branch.
The obverse design of this Perth Mint coin shows Ian Rank-Broadley's famous portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
What does the grade Proof 70 mean?
This coin was graded by the experts at the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) as Proof 70 Ultra Cameo. This is the highest grade attainable for a proof coin, and it means the design is completely flawless under 5x magnification. Add to this the very hard to get Early Releases designation, and you have a coin that could be the pinnacle of many collections! The Early Releases designation has never been seen on a Proof Silver Wedge-Tailed Eagle. Last but not least, it boasts a label hand Signed by John Mercanti!
