Why purchase this 5 oz. Silver 2016-P Fort Moultrie America the Beautiful brilliant uncirculated specimen coin?

The 35th release of the U.S. Mint's America the Beautiful Quarters series commemorates the historic significance of Fort Moultrie National Historical Park in South Carolina. On June 28, 1776 Colonel William Moultrie commanded the 2nd South Carolina Regiment to a victory against an attack from British warships. As a result of the triumph, the stronghold known as Fort Sullivan was re-named to honor the Colonel.

  • This 2016-P Fort Moultrie quarter is struck from 5 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
  • The America the Beautiful series coin is a Philadelphia Mint product.
  • The coin measures an impressive 76.20 mm in diameter.
  • The coin features a magnificent satin-like specimen finish and a lettered edge.
  • The coin will arrive in its original packaging from the United States Mint.
  • The coin is one of only 17,882 minted.

Victorious Battle Scene

Obverse: The obverse portrait of Founding Father George Washington was sculpted in 1932 by John Flanagan. Inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," the "P" Mint mark and "QUARTER DOLLAR," with ".999 FINE SILVER 5.0 OUNCE" on the coin's smooth edge. The famed Rotunda Clock located at the Library of Congress Thomas Jefferson Building in Washington D.C. is an additional example of Mr. Flanagan's work.

Reverse: The reverse portrays Sergeant William Jasper courageously returning the battle-tattered regimental flag to the ramparts while under fire from the British ship depicted in the background. The powerful image is encircled by the inscriptions "FORT MOULTRIE," "SOUTH CAROLINA," "2016" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
