Introduced by the Casa de Moneda de Mexico in 1982, the Mexican Silver Libertad has been a hit with collectors and stackers for over 30 years! These rounds bear no face value and are struck from .999 pure silver blanks. The set contains 1.9 oz. of silver in the following sizes: 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/10 oz. and 1/20 oz.
The obverse of the round features two images. The central image featured is the Angel of Independence, which is a winged Victory statue atop an ornate column. The image that dominates the background is that of the two volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccihuatl from the Pre-Columbian legend.
The reverse of the round features the current Mexican Coat of Arms in the center. The image is of a Golden Eagle perched on a cactus while eating a snake. Previously used, historical coats of arms surround the central image.
Proof coins are struck using polished dies and blanks. Extra care is taken in the handling of these coins while preparing them for collectors. The Mint ships these sets in an attractive wooden presentation box.
