2016 dated Highland Mint American Indian / Buffalo silver rounds
Especially attractive to date set collectors are these dated 2016 American Indian / Buffalo one troy ounce .999 file silver rounds from the Highland Mint. Carefully minted with modern techniques, these buffaloes are a very affordable and attractive way to own silver with beautiful and historic designs.
The design is reminiscent of the James Earle Fraser buffalo nickel, a coin originally released in 1913 by the United States Mint. The indian design on the obverse side shows an elder native American chief posing in striking profile, while the desgin on the reverse side shows an American Bison (also called a Buffalo) standing on a raised patch of ground. The original model for this reverse design was used for only one year, as it was discovered very early on that the denomination had been on the raised, rocky area near the bottom of the design on the coin and would wear away quickly. These coins have become so popular with the collecting public, silver rounds that mirror the design of the Buffalo nickel have also been a popular selection with collectors and stackers alike!
