Why order this Silver 2 oz. Great Britain Queen's Beast Lion?
This Great Britain Silver 2016 Lion starts a new Royal Mint Series known as Queen's Beast, which is set to have ten issues. This is the first 2 oz. bullion coin ever issued by the Mint. Struck from .9999 fine silver, the coin comes from the first year that features a new image of Queen Elizabeth II since 1998.
Beautiful Jody Clark Designs
On the obverse is Jody Clark's new right-side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her curly hair is held down by a crown atop her head. Rim inscriptions surrounding the image provide her name and title, "ELIZABETH II D.G. REG. F.D.," which is Latin for "Queen Elizabeth II, by the grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith," and the face value of the coin, "5 POUNDS."
On the reverse is the country's royal coat of arms. It is divided into four quadrants, with two representing England and the others representing Ireland and Scotland. Holding the shield is a lion, which has a large mane and is letting out a roar. Rim inscriptions read, "LION OF ENGLAND," "2 OZ FINE SILVER," "9999," and "2016."
Almost Perfect Mint State 69
The coin's very few errors only became apparent to graders at the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) when they viewed this coin under magnification. As such, this piece earned their second highest grade of Mint State 69, which NGC provided on a Great Britain label.
