Design of the 2016 Silver Welsh Dragon Celebration Coin
The reverse features a magnificent fire-breathing dragon, ornamented with scales and large leather-like wings, surrounded by a bold dot border and inscribed "TWENTY POUNDS." The image was designed by Norman Sillman, Royal Academy of Art graduate, celebrated Royal Academy sculptor, and first to emboss the dragon onto the one pound coin. A new effigy of The Queen Elizabeth II adorns the obverse, her serene expression meant to symbolize a modern monarchy, designed by Royal Mint engraver Jody Clark.
