Why purchase this 7 Summits Denali 5 oz. Silver GEM Brilliant Uncirculated?
The elite group of the highest mountain peaks on each of the seven continents is commonly known as the "Seven Summits." The 7 Summits coin series, produced by Coin Invest Trust (CIT) for issue by the Cook Islands, features each of the magnificent mountains on a 65mm diameter coin struck from 5 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver. The first release of the series commemorates Denali in Alaska, the highest mountain in North America. The peak known as Mount McKinley for nearly one hundred years had its original Athabaskan name restored to Denali in 2015.
Astounding topographic detail
The reverse design is produced with the modern numismatic technology called Smartminting, which results in a dramatic high relief, accurate reproduction of Denali peak on this five oz. coin. Inscribed "DENALI 6190m," "ALASKA RANGE NORTH AMERICA," and "THE 7 SUMMITS 2016."
The portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II created by Ian Rank-Broadley adorns the obverse, with inscriptions "ELIZABETH II," "COOK ISLANDS," "25 DOLLARS," and ".999."
