Why should you purchase the GEM Proof 2016 China 2 oz. High Relief Proof Silver Panda - Moon Festival Medal?
This stunning medal was struck by the Shenzhen Guobao Mint in high relief, out of 2 oz. of .999 fine silver. This is one of only a few silver pandas struck by the China Mints that can boast a high relief design. It also is one of the few Silver Pandas that were struck with a Mint mark. Last and most importantly - this is only the second Silver Panda in history to show the moon in the panda design! This is to honor the Chinese Moon Festival - a celebration very important in Chinese culture. Only 2,000 of these have been struck!
What is the design of the 2 oz. Silver High Relief Moon Festival Panda?
The reverse of this medal shows a stunning image of a mother panda and her cub, with their backs to the moon. This design shows extraordinary detail, particularly with the high relief strike. The inscriptions "Moon Festival" and "2oz Ag .999" are present.
The obverse of the medal is a beautiful image of the Great Wall of China. The wall is built directly on the crest of a range of mountains and stretches off into the distance. The inscription "2016" is present at the bottom. Above this scene is an image of the famous Chinese armillary sphere that tells time based off of the movement of the moon.
