Why should you purchase a 2016 China Official Panda Issue for the Berlin World Money Fair?
Since 1984, the China Mint has had a tradition of issuing special commemorative Pandas to honor coin shows around the world. They have continued this tradition in 2016 by striking a 1 oz. .999 fine silver Commemorative Panda for the World Money Fair hosted in Berlin, Germany. The obverse of this commemorative shows an image of the Berlin Cathedral, along with the official logo of the World Money Fair. The reverse features a very unique design that factors in a number of different topics. The image giving this commemorative proof its name is the panda bear of China that appears on all of their Coin Show releases. For the first time however, this coin shows another bear on the design, the “Berlin bear” from the Coat of Arms of Berlin, facing the panda.
Also on the reverse are engravings of a set of very rare dies from the Otto Beh Company. This company was responsible for creating a set of dies and letter punches that were used in the production of Chinese coins between 1897 and 1898. The coins themselves are very valuable and popular among collectors, making these dies of tremendous historical value! They were displayed at the World Money Fair in Berlin on their final stop before reaching the Moritzburg Halle – Museum of Art in Germany for permanent display. In between the 2 bears is the Coat of Arms of the State of Anhalt, which was the location of the Otto Beh Company.
We had these commemorative proofs certified by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), where they carefully examined these proofs under magnification and gave them accurate grading. These were graded Proof 69, which is the second highest grade on their 70-point scale. Each one features a panda themed label, as well as the individual mintage number of the commemorative. Don’t miss this opportunity to purchase this 2016 World Money Fair Silver Panda Commemorative. Whether you are collecting them all as a series, or this would be the first Silver Panda Coin Show commemorative for you, it is a very valuable release that is a great addition to any collection.
