Why should you purchase this High Relief Proof Silver Winged Liberty Commemorative certified by NGC as GEM Proof?
This stunning silver commemorative features a design never fully shown on a coin before! Created by the numismatic legend Augustus Saint-Gaudens at the behest of 26th president of the United States Theodore Roosevelt, this commemorative shows the design of the Saint-Gaudens gold Double Eagle before it was altered to fit on the coin. As you can see in the images, the original design was of a winged liberty, standing atop a large rock. In addition to the wings, which are spread apart like an eagle about to take flight, she is wearing a classic indian headdress. We have used a proof strike to create these coins, and have used a special high relief die! The design was originally produced to be high relief, but due to the restraints of technology of the time, the U.S. Mint was unable to efficiently mass-produce the coin. This was the vision that Saint Gaudens had for the design, and despite the necessity to alter it in order to fit on the Double Eagle, this silver commemorative allows the original design to finally come to life!
ModernCoinMart is proud to present this stunning commemorative as an exclusive item of our company! We have worked hard with both the National Park Foundation and 12th Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint John Mercanti in order to finish this brilliant design. Struck out of 1 oz. of .999 fine silver, the value of this commemorative is intrinsic, as well as collectible. The benefits of it being struck out of silver is also that the price tag is much lower than it would be if struck in gold! The proof finish combined with the high relief of the design creates a splendid contrast that makes this commemorative stunning!
We had the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) certify this commemorative proof in order to provide additional authentication as well as accurate grading. After careful examination under 5x magnification, it was determined that the commemorative should be graded Gem Proof! As well, the label was signed by John Mercanti himself, the man who helped bring this design to life as a commemorative! The finishing touch on this unique item is its packaging, which consists of a National Park Foundation (NPF) themed holder. This not only is a licensed product of the NPF, but is also a great way to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service. Don’t pass up the opportunity to obtain such a special item, exclusive to ModernCoinMart. It has a limited mintage of only 10,000, so act fast to secure it for your collection!
