2015 PCGS American Liberty High Relief Gold Coin
The 2015 High Relief Liberty Gold Coin is the first of its kind and has been highly anticipated by coin collectors all over the world since its debut was announced. For months, this coin has been the subject of articles and chatter within coin forums. Now, it's here and we've secured this PCGS graded version with the highly sought after Miles Standish signed label for our customers.
For the very first time, a 1 oz. gold coin has been given a denomination of $100. This coin also features designs by the esteemed artists from the US Mint Artistic Infusion Program, Justin Kunz and Paul C. Balan. Kunz is the designer of the obverse side which depicts a woman who is crowned with olive leaves as she holds a torch and a pole bearing the American Flag. Balan is the designer of the reverse side of this coin which features a heraldic American Bald Eagle who is in mid-flight as it carries an olive twig in its talons. Both of these designs represent the classic American culture and feature the artist's signatures on their respective sides.
History of the High Relief Gold Coin
There are a lot of firsts for this coin -- it is the first of its kind and the first 1 oz. gold coin to hold a denomination of $100 -- but it doesn't end there. In 2009, the US Mint produced a low number of Ultra High Relief coins that reincarnated the August Saint-Gaudens 2907 Double Eagle 20 Coin. These coins grew extremely popular and valuable shortly after their release, and still are today. But this 2015 High Relief gold coin does not reincarnate this same design, it takes on its own version of classic America on a modern day coin.
PCGS Miles Standish Label
Miles Standish is the Vice President of the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) and a rare coin expert and numismatist himself. He became interested in numismatics at a young age and began selling them at the age of 17. It was in 1982 when he first set up a table at the National Silver Dollar Show. This was a monumental step in his life that led him to his success today.
The numismatist in you knows this label, signed by Standish himself, is calling your name. What better way to showcase this Mint State 70 -- perfect -- coin than in a PCGS holder with his signature on it?
