2015 Tuvalu 1 oz. Deep Space Nine 2-Coin Set Designs

The obverse of both coins in the Tuvalu 1 oz. Deep Space Nine 2-Coin Set feature Ian Rank-Broadley’s design of the image of Queen Elizabeth II. In that image, the queen is shown wearing her crown and facing to the right side of the coin; under her neck, the letters “IRB” are inscribed, a reference to the man who created the image. Two inscriptions encircle the queen; her name and title, “QUEEN ELIZABETH II”, appear above her, while the bottom of the coin bears the words, “1 DOLLAR TUVALU 2015”.

Captain Benjamin Sisko (actor Avery Brooks) appears on the obverse of one of the coins. He, his clothes, and the background behind him are on the right side of the coin, which is colored. In the lower right of his uniform, the letter “P” is inscribed in reference to the Perth Mint. To his right, without coloration appears the inscription “TM & © 2014 CBS ARR.” On the left side, there are designs from the series, along with the inscriptions, “CAPTAIN BENJAMIN SISKO" and “1 OZ. 999 SILVER”.

The Star Trek space station appears in the center of the reverse on the other coin and is encircled by a wreath. There are several accents along the exterior; one is the area in the circle in which the space station appears featuring blue lights with a black background. Above the image is an inscription bearing the words, “1 OZ. .999 SILVER” at the top in small lettering, below that appears, “STAR TREK™”. To the right of those words and arching down is yet another inscription: “TM & © 2014 CBS. ARR.” Under the image, there are two nearly identical inscriptions. In smaller letters, there is, “DEEP SPACE NINE”. Just below that, there is another with the words “DEEP SPACE 9”. To the right of the coin, there is a “P”, which, as with the other coin in this set, denotes the fact that the coin was minted in Perth. The reverse designs for both coins were created by Jennifer McKenna.
