2015 Tokelau $5 1 oz Reverse Proof Silver Creatures of Myth and Legend Aries
This 2015 Tokelau Aries Proof is one of the early editions in the Creatures of Myth and Legend Series. It is one of the five Aries coins in the series, each of which bears the same design but with variations of the look. Only 2500 proof versions of this beautiful coin were minted, making this a very limited edition and a wonderful piece for collectors.
Design of the 2015 Tokelau Aries Proof
Queen Elizabeth II is on the obverse of this 2015 Tokelau Aries Proof along with the badge of Tokelau. The queen faces to the right side of the coin. Her curly hair is finely detailed, and her crown stands out due to the finish. Under her neck are the initials “IRB,” which credit Ian Rank-Broadley with the design. The badge under her portrait features a tackle box that is popular with fishermen in the territory. The Christian influence on the territory is symbolized by the cross on the box. Just under the box is a scroll with the inscription “TOKELAU MO TE ATUA,” which translates as “Tokelau for God.” Along the bottom of the coin is an inscription that indicates the face value and metal content of the coin. It reads, “FIVE DOLLARS – 1 oz. 999 SILVER.” The Queen is identified in the upper left with the inscription “ELIZABETH II,” while “TOKELAU,” which issued the coin, is in the upper right.
On the reverse, a ram is bounding across the sky. Its large horns curl in the upper right. In the background are the stars in the part of the sky in which the constellation appears. The stars that make up the constellation are larger than the rest and connected with a series of lines, which make it easier for the holder to notice them.
Why add this 2015 Tokelau Aries Proof to your collection?
This 2015 Tokelau Aries Proof is a beautiful piece that can easily be admired thanks in part to its finish and in part to its large diameter of the coin, 38.6 mm. It comes with a certificate of authenticity, which provides details about the coin. While the coin’s beauty and limited mintage make it a collector’s item in its own right, it can also fit nicely into collections of the series or ones that include all five variations of the design.
