Detailed profiles of 2 men can be found on the obverse. This design depicts President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Dr. Jonas Salk. Both of them played integral roles in the fight against polio. The lower portion of the design shows the date and mintmark.

Among the inscriptions on the reverse are the face value and "MARCH OF DIMES." The design on this side shows a small baby resting with its head in an adult's hand.
