Why add the 2015-P Homestead 5 oz. Silver Specimen America the Beautiful Quarter to your collection?
This 2015-P America the Beautiful Quarter is the first release of the series for the year 2015, the twenty-sixth release of the series overall. The design honors Nebraska's Homestead National Monument of America, dedicated to the Homestead Act of 1862, which offered pioneers free land to live on. The stunning 76.2 mm diameter Specimen coin is struck from 5 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver, with purity, weight and content engraved on the coin's smooth edge.
Gorgeous symbolic design
The reverse, designed by Ronald D. Sanders and sculpted by James Licaretz, features the images of a log cabin, two ears of corn, and a water pump, representing the three items necessary for survival of the homesteaders: shelter, food, and water. Inscriptions include "HOMESTEAD," "NEBRASKA," "2015," and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."
The obverse depicts the bust of George Washington as created by John Flanagan in 1932, accompanied by "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST," and "QUARTER DOLLAR."
Magnificent Specimen 69
A coin graded as Specimen will typically exhibit a beautiful hybrid of finishes normally seen separately on coins struck as Proof and Mint State. This 2015-P 5 oz. Specimen Silver Homestead coin is graded to be a near perfect Specimen 69 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). Having a smaller mintage than the bullion version, the Specimen issue carries the "P" Mint mark from the Philadelphia Mint.
