Featuring Iconic Designs by Adolph Weinman and John Mercanti

Obverse: The obverse design comes from Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty Half Dollar. The morning sun begins to emerge from beyond the horizon as Liberty carries laurel and oak branches. Her name, "LIBERTY," is inscribed on this face, as are the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," and the coin's date, "2015." Adolph Weinman was a sculptor and artist. He was a major contributor to the renaissance in American numismatics that took place in the early 20th century, contributing, among other designs, both faces of the Mercury Dime and Walking Liberty Half Dollar.

Reverse: The reverse design was created by John Mercanti, who modeled it off of the Great Seal of the United States. An eagle clutches arrows and an olive branch while guarding a union shield under thirteen stars. Inscriptions along the rim read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." John Mercanti was the twelfth Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. During his nearly four decades with the institution, he became the most prolific designer of coins and medals in the country's history.
