Featuring the Classic Walking Liberty Design of Adolph Weinman

Obverse: The coin's obverse design comes from Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty Half Dollar. Draped in the American flag and wearing a Phrygian cap, Liberty carries laurel and oak branches as the morning sun begins to rise. Her name, "LIBERTY," is inscribed on this face, as are the coin's date, "2015," and the national motto of the issuing country, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Adolph Weinman made several numismatic contributions, including the designs of both faces of the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. He was also a prominent sculptor, whose work continues to be displayed in numerous cities across America.

Reverse: John Mercanti modeled his reverse design off of the Great Seal of the United States. Thirteen stars represent the original states above an eagle, which clutches arrows and an olive branch while guarding a union shield. The image is encircled by three rim inscriptions, which read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." John Mercanti has designed more medals and coins than anyone else in American history. His nearly four decade tenure with the US Mint included time as the institution's twelfth Chief Engraver.
